Rebuilding is not the same as republishing
A returning ThotChat reader may want to describe an original companion again. That does not automatically mean the character should be released for strangers to discover.
The current ThotChat domain is a directory. For a current authoring example, Dokichat’s creation form exposes Public and Private settings, plus originality and age-rating choices. These are distinct decisions rather than one general “safe” switch.
A private draft has a useful job
Imagine a fictional adult sound archivist researching a recording from a closed theatre. The creator has not decided whether the story is about a lost performance or a mislabeled interview.
Keeping that draft private gives the creator room to change the premise without promising an audience a stable experience. A public summary written too early may advertise a mystery the first message no longer supports.
Private visibility should not be described as absolute secrecy. Dokichat’s privacy policy explains processing of character and conversation information by the service and its providers. The setting governs access by other users; it is not a statement that the operator never handles the content.
A public release needs a reader-facing invitation
The public pitch should answer three simple questions:
- Who is the original fictional adult character?
- What situation will the reader enter?
- What can the reader contribute?
It need not expose every plot note or repeat the full personality description. For the archivist, the public invitation might mention two contradictory recordings. The behind-the-scenes notes can explain why one clue is misleading.
That distinction supports a coherent first experience. It does not require copying a whole prior conversation into the new character.
Originality changes discovery eligibility
Dokichat’s creation rules classify characters as Original, Partially Original or Fanwork. They currently reserve search/recommendation eligibility and creator incentives for Original characters.
A new name alone is not a meaningful originality test if the design still uses recognizable protected elements from an existing character. Likewise, personally writing dialogue does not make someone else’s portrait your original artwork. Use the platform’s categories accurately and obtain appropriate rights.
| Decision | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Public or Private | Who can access the character through the platform’s visibility setting |
| Originality category | How the creation is classified and its current discovery eligibility |
| Age rating | How the creator labels the intended audience |
| Content deletion | A separate process with retained-history limitations |
Publication can leave traces
The creation form warns that users who have already chatted with a deleted character can still see their history. The privacy policy also describes exceptions and copies outside the active deletion process.
That is a real tradeoff for a creator who expects to withdraw a draft completely. Do not publish sensitive personal information or assume that deleting the original will undo every earlier disclosure.
For a rebuilt personal companion, Private can be the more appropriate starting choice. For an original creation intended for others, prepare the public hook, verify the rights and classify it honestly. The useful improvement over a vague “replacement” search is understanding what the act of publishing actually changes.
